6 Pin Slot Connector
- Sorry if the title is a bit confusing, I've never used cables to do with this and I'm just as confused. I am gonna get a GPU upgrade with comes with an 8 pin cable inside, so I'm assuming it needs an 8 pin power cable to go into it for power and stuff, and luckily I have 2 spare cables coming from my PSU, a 2 pin and 6 pin cable.
- Each 6-pin PCIe supplemental power cable from the power supply has a convention of providing 75 watts max also. 75 x 3 = 225, so you'll be fine if you plug in the card to the correct slot, and plug two 6 pin PCIe supplemental power cables into the card.
- 6 pin Simcard proprietary connector This is proprietary (non-standard, product specific ) connector. A proprietary connector is the special connector that can only be used with a certain device(s).
6 Pin Slot Connector Adapter
Is there a myth about 6/8 pin connectors - is this is a deciding factor when buying an AMD GPU ?
I was told on here i forgot which thread or it might have been a different forum , that dont get 6 pin connector only get 8 pin.
No actual reason was given.
At the moment i do not mind buying the ASUS Strix RX470 but it has a 6 pin.
I am also keen on the PowerColor ; Saphire Nitro + ; Gigabyte RX480 looks decent and priced well ; Asus G1 Strix
I cant remember if the Nitro+ has an 8pin.
Anyways for me the RX480 Gigabyte looks good value for money although i am pretty happy to get the RX470s
PowerColor was my primary choice of all because of price, except for the RX480 its stupidly priced like most other RX480's
Maybe not in the USD price range but then again i dont know what deal the USA has with China because its as if they never pay for taxes or shipping the prices of electronics is ALWAYS better in USA when comparing to England / South Africa , its crazy.
